The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interpgonia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) was created in 2004 to draw the attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexuals, transgender, intersex people and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions. The date of May 17th was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
The Day represents a major global annual landmark to draw the attention of decision makers, the media, the public, opinion leaders, local authorities, etc. to the alarming situation faced by people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions․

The theme of IDAHOBID-2020 is Breaking the Silence.

IDAHOBIT2020 ONLINE AWARENESS RAISING CAMPAIGN
#May17th is celebrated annually around the world as the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia to raise the world awareness on #LGBTI issues.
Each year on this day New Generation Humanitarian NGO organizes different events: flash mobs, meeting-discussions, press releases and conferences to mark this special day of fighting discrimination against LGBTI people and bring the public attention to the issues and problems of these people.

This year we organized online awareness raising campaign with support of Embassy of Sweden in Armenia and the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, under this years’ official IDAHOBIT2020 slogan “Breaking Silence”.

Many thanks to everyone who broke the silence and joined the campaign sending messages for equality, justice, peace and love regardless of person’s sexual orientation and gender identiy.
