NEW GENERATION NGO CONDEMNS THE INCIDENT HAVING OCCURRED AT CLUB POLIGRAF

On 23 April 2023, at around 01:00 am, the police officers of the Division of Criminal Investigation at the Central Division of the Police under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, in coordination with a group of “red-berets” [police officers wearing red berets] of the Yerevan City Department of the Police under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, broke in Club Poligraf.

Those at the club were forced on the ground, then taken to the police station by force.

According to the information available, the Club staff and visitors were subjected to severe beating resulting in bodily injuries,

 

New Generation Humanitarian NGO strongly condemns the unlawful actions of the Police taken in gross violation of the fundamental human rights and urges:

  • the Government of Armenia to give due legal evaluation of the incident and bring the guilty to justice.
  • the Ministry of Internal Affairs to operate strictly within the confines of the law, to refrain from unlawful actions and respect FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN rights and democratic values,
  • the victims of the incident to apply for legal protection and restore the violated rights.
