CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINIG for Armenian CSOs WAS HELD

On September 23-24, 2021, a two-day training on capacity building of 10 Armenian grassroot CSO representatives was organized in Tsaghkadzor by New Generation Humanitarian NGO (NGNGO) within the framework of Sensitization and Empowerment for Equality project through a Department of State Public Affairs Section grant.

 

The training was aimed to develop the capacities of CSO representatives in Armenia on the topics of Human Rights and Project Design and Management.

 

At the beginning of the training NGNGO president Sergey Gabrielyan made an opening speech, welcoming the participants, thanking them for their interest and participation, highlighting the importance of cooperation between CSOs for the solution of the problems faced by vulnerable groups in society. NGNGO president emphasized the fact that the organization finds it important and always supports the grassroot CSOs of Armenia in the implementation of their ideas aimed at the human rights protection, establishment of non-discrimination, equality, and justice in Armenia through sub-grants and other forms of assistance. Sergey Gabrielyan’s speech was continued by the organization’s projects coordinator Alina Mirzoyan, who expressed hope that this training would be the beginning of a successful cooperation between NGNGO and the CSOs participating in the training.

 

Before passing to the main topics of the training, Hmayak Avetisyan, the organization’s project coordinator and facilitator of the training, introduced the participants to the training agenda, developed rules with the help of the participants, which the participants should follow throughout the whole course, as well as discussed the participants’ expectations and fears.

 

The main part of the training was launched by trainer-expert Hripsime Kocharyan, who presented the topic of Program Design and Management. The participants got acquainted with the basic concepts of project design and management, talked about the stages of project implementation, project structure, components of successful projects, principles, budgeting, its components, Gantt chart.

 

 

 

The second day of the training was dedicated to the topics of Human Rights Protection: Domestic and International  Protection Mechanisms, Documentation of Human Rights Violations, Stigma and discrimination, which were presented by NGNGO lawyer and trainer Lusine Gasparyan. The participants got acquainted with the concept and origin of human rights, spoke about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, the judicial systems of the Republic of Armenia, absolute and comparative rights, differentiated between stigma and discrimination as well as learned their types, getting acquainted with the legal mechanisms of protection against discrimination.

 

 

The training was held in an atmosphere of active discussions, questions and answers, including theoretical, practical exercises, workshops, teamwork.

 

 

 

 

 

The training provided the trained participants with the basic skills of NGO operation, projects design and management, skills and knowledge of coordinated and high-quality services to their beneficiaries, ensuring and advocating for the latter’s human rights protection. It also marked the start of cooperation between the trained CSOs in uniting their efforts in the work against the SOGI-based discrimination and for establishment of equality and justice in Armenia․

 

At the end of the training, the participants were awarded with certificates of participation.
