“Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis as a modern and effective method of HIV Prevention” the international expert presents

From August 3 to 6 2021, infectious disease doctor Nikolay Lunchenkov, health expert of the Eurasian Coalition for Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity (ECOM) was invited by New Generation Humanitarian NGO (NGNGO) from Germany to conduct working meetings on the topic of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for HIV (PrEP) for stakeholders engaged in planning and realization of PrEP and healthcare workers in the field of HIV prevention and treatment and for outreach workers of NGNGO.

 

On August 3-4 a two day working meeting was held for stakeholders engaged in planning and realization of PrEP and healthcare workers.

During the meeting the launch of PrEP programs and challenges and obstacles of their realization, specificities of PrEP, the efficiency of its application, the international experience in the application of PrEP,  usage of PrEP among MSM, first consultation on PrEP,  methods of keeping the motivation of PrEP patients and encouraging their regular usage of PrEP were discussed.

 

 

On August 5-6, a two-day training for outreach workers was conducted on the topic of PrEP.

During the training the expert introduced what is Prexposure Prophylaxis for HIV to the participants, how it is used, how to provide first consultation on PrEP, where to start from. The methods of keeping the motivation of PrEP patients and encouraging their regular usage of PrEP, the beneficiary engagement for PrEP through online platforms, the specificities and methods of overcoming difficulties in the outreach work were discussed during the training as well.

 

The meetings were held in an atmosphere of active and productive discussions. At the end of the meeting the participants were awarded with certificates.

 

The meetings were organized by New Generation Humanitarian NGO with support of the Eurasian Coalition for Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity (ECOM), and in cooperation with the National Center for Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health of Armenia.
