LIFE-30 INFORMATION PLATFORM HELD FOR NETWORKING AND INTEGRATION OF NK AND LOCAL YOUTH OF ARMENIA
On July 30-31, 2024, another LIFE information platform was held, this time with the purpose of capacity building, communication, networking and integration of young leaders of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karbakh) and Armenia.
The information platform started with the presentation of the topic of Hepatitis C by the experts of Doctors Without Borders charity, Armenia (Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)) – Emilya Jamalyan, Medical Liaison Officer and Shirak Krouzian, Health Promotion Supervisor.
Next, Naira Marutyan, Protection Associate of UNHCR, Armenia, introduced to the participants the Rights of Refugees and Displaced People.
Legal expert Shushan Khnkoyan continued the topic of rights, touching upon the topics of fundamental human rights and freedoms, protection mechanisms, and the right to health. The expert also presented the topic of Stigma and Discrimination.
The first day of the platform was concluded with the presentation of the topic of Leadership and Activism by NG NGO representative Levon Chilingaryan.
The next day of the platform was entirely devoted to health topics.
Levon Chilingaryan, NG NGO HIV prevention programs assistant, discussed with the participants the topic of HIV and AIDS; routes of transmission, prevention methods and treatment>
The topic was followed by the introduction of Pre-exposure (PrEP) and Post-Exposure (PEP) Prophylaxes of HIV by Dr. Hermine Hovakimyan, Infectious Disease Physician, head of the ambulatory clinic of the National Center for Infectious Diseases CJSC of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.
The information platform was concluded with the topic of STIs, Their Transmission Ways, Prevention and Treatment, which was presented by Emil Mirzoyan, head of the STI department of the National Center for Burns and Dermatology CJSC of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.
The information platform was held in an atmosphere of active discussions. The platform also included non-formal workshops, exercises to promote communication, networking and engagement among participants.
At the end of the platform, participants were awarded certificates of participation.
The information platform was organized by New Generation Humanitarian NGO with financial support of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee , Gilead Sciences Inc. and the glifaa chapter at the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia.
