Awareness of Armenian youth about HIV and AIDS, Activities carried out in the field. focus group discussion

On July 2, 2021, the first focus group discussion was held with participation of young people of Armenia within the framework of the survey on the Actuality of Recognition of the youth as a key population for HIV prevention programs.

The expert of the focus group discussion was MD Hovhannes Madoyan.

This focus group discussion was held for male students of Armenian higher education institutions.

 

 

The goal of the meeting was to discuss the awareness of the Armenian youth about HIV and AIDS, the HIV/AIDS related activities carried out among young people of Armenia, the importance of targeted work in relation with HIV and AIDS for the Armenian youth.

Also the topic of HIV and AIDS taught within the school subject Healthy Lifestyle and the interventions related to HIV and AIDS that would be desirable to implement among the youth were discussed during the meeting,

Another three focus group discussions will be held within the frames of this survey among different groups of youth, i.e. female students, and non-student youths to get a more comprehensive image on the situation for the survey.

The survey on the Actuality of Recognition of the Youth as a Key Population for HIV Prevention Programs is implemented within the framework of the project – HIV Prevention Among Vulnerable Populations Not Included in the Armenian National Program on the Response to HIV, with the financial support of the Emergency Support Fund for Key Populations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
