The Global Fund on Focus: We Observe, We Participate, We Influence
One-day strategic training for representatives of the trans* community of Armenia was held in Yerevan on November 20, 2020.
The training module was developed by ECOM, and the national expert was Sergey Gabrielyan, president of New Generation Humanitarian NGO.
The Global Fund on Focus: We Observe, We Participate, We Influence training was aimed at developing the advocacy and communication skills of trans* people to ensure their visible and meaningful participation in the development and implementation of the project of the Global Fund at the national level.
The training was attended by representatives of organizations dealing with the issues of trans* people and trans* activists.
The training expert introduced the country’s cooperation with the Global Fund, from the preparation of the funding application to the implementation of the project and reporting as well as the importance of the participation of trans* people in the whole process.
The expert Sergey Gabrielyan also spoke about the Country Coordinating Mechanism, the working groups to it, their functions, as well as the importance of the engagement of trans* people in the decision-making process. The participants watched the animated video “The importance of community engagement in the decision-making processes” made within the framework of the “Budget Advocacy for Leadership and Development” project implemented by New Generation Humanitarian NGO and shared their opinions about the animation.
As a result of the discussions with the participants, the expert presented practical steps that will ensure the visible and meaningful participation of trans* people in the processes of the work with the Global Fund at the national level.
Through a practical activity called “Puzzle” the participants once again strengthened their knowledge gained during the training day.
At the end of the training, the participants shared their impressions and opinions, expressed readiness to be engaged in all advocacy processes.
