AWARENESS-RAISING AS AN EFFECTIVE TOOL TO PREVENT PANDEMICS: TRAINING COURSE FOR CSO REPRESENTATIVES
On June 28-29, 2023, a training course for CSO representatives on the topics of COVID-19 and Mpox, their ways of transmission and methods of prevention, as well as on dissemination and communication of relevant information among their beneficiaries was held.
The training course was aimed at raising the awareness of CSO representatives on the ways of transmission and methods of prevention of COVID-19 and Mpox, as well as to train them on the professional and competent dissemination of information among their beneficiaries and on referral for information, educational materials prevention, vaccination and treatment.
The training course was launched with a discussion on the ways of transmission and methods of prevention of COVID-19, uninterrupted and safe delivery of HIV services during pandemics. The topic was presented by Naira Sergeeva, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist of Global Fund Coordination Team at the RA Ministry of Healthcare.
Then, Emil Mirzoyan, Head of the Department for STIs of the National Center for Dermatology introduced to the participants the types, prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
Experts from Doctors Without Borders Mission presented the topic of Hepatitis C, symptoms, causes, diagnosis and treatment.
Thereafter, National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and NG NGO experts delivered the topic of monkeypox (Mpox), ways of its transmission and prevention to the participants.
As a result of the training course, the attending NGO representatives enhanced their knowledge of the Mpox and COVID-19 pandemics, honed their skills in uninterrupted and safe delivery of HIV services during pandemics, as well as became familiar with the possibilities of Mpox prevention, treatment and referral to NG NGO and NCID for information/educational materials, and treatment in case of having symptoms.
The training was organized within the framework of the project Awareness Raising and Prevention in Response to the Pandemic Outbreak implemented by New Generation Humanitarian NGO with financial support of Gilead Sciences Inc.
