ANOTHER INFORMATION MEETING HELD FOR FORCIBLY DISPLACED YOUNG PEOPLE FROM NAGORNO-KARABAKH

On February 9, 2023, an information meeting was held for forcibly displaced youth from Nagorno Karabakh at the Yerevan DropIn Center of New Generation Humanitarian NGO with the participation of representatives of UNHCR, Mission Armenia NGO.

During the meeting, the UNHCR representative Karen Khachatryan  presented to the participants UNHCR mandate and its role in Refugee Protection in Armenia, as well as UNHCR assistance programs for refugees.

Ashkhen Yesayan, Mission Armenia NGO lawyer introduced to the participants the temporary protection (refugee) status, clarifying what it means and what protection measures it provides.

After the presentation of the topics, the participants gave their questions and presented their issues to the representatives of the UNHCR, Mission Armenia NGO and New Generation Humanitarian NGO, discussed the possible solutions, suggestions and opportunities.

Considering the importance of the urgent response to the issues and problems of the population forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, importance of promoting their full integration and awareness raising about the available opportunities, the NG NGO will continue to initiate such informative meetings with representatives of various international, diplomatic, state and other institutions.

REMINDER: On December 15, 2023, at the initiative of NGNGO, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Kvien also met with young people from Nagorno Karabakh to discuss the challenges they have faced and the opportunities they see in Armenia for greater inclusion through civic engagement in Armenia.
