LIFE-27 INFORMATION PLATFORM WAS HELD FOR REFUGEES, IDPs, AND ASYLUM SEEKERS HAVING MOVED TO ARMENIA FROM RUSSIA, UKRAINE AND BELARUS
On July 27-28, 2023, a two-day capacity building training-information platform was held for refugees, IDPs, and asylum seekers having moved to Armenia due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The training was aimed at developing the participants’ capacities in career development, NGO establishment, leadership, conflict resolution, financial management, human rights, the procedures in place, as well as the existing opportunities and available services.
During the information platform, field experts, namely specialists representing the National Center for Addictions Treatment, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, UNHCR Armenia, National Center of Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, National Center for Pulmonology, the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Republic of
Armenia Ministry of Internal Affairs and individual experts introduced to the participants such topics, as career development:, establishing NGOs, financial management, conflict resolution, human rights, leadership, HIV and AIDS, COVID-19 and MPV, specificities and characteristics, ways of transmission, prevention methods.
Furthermore, discussion platforms on the accessibility of health services for refugees, IDPs, and asylum seekers in the Republic of Armenia, human rights and opportunities of migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, IDPs in Armenia, NGO establishment, project design, financial management were organized. The said discussion platforms enabled the participants to listen and address questions of interest to the experts representing the above-mentioned institutions, in particular, Roza Babayan, Country Manager, UNAIDS Armenia, Naira Marutyan, Protection Associate, UNHCR, Ruzanna Petrosyan, Head of the Asylum Issues and Legal Support Department of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Internal Affairs, Astghik Davidyan, Doctor, Infectiologist of the National Center of Infectious Diseases of Ministry of Health of Armenia, Lusine Yeghiazaryan, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the National Center for Pulmonology, Lyubov Nikolayan, Senior Clinical Specialist in National
Center for Pulmonology, Nushik Hakobjanyan, Doctor, National Center for Addictions Treatment of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, Anahit Chilingaryan, Attorney, NG NGO representatives and other invited experts.
The information platform was accompanied by active Q&A sessions, a number of theoretical and practical workshops and group works were held, the participants received answers to many of their questions, came up with suggestions and shared their concerns about issues present in various fields.
