LIFE-5

On March 16-17, 2018 LIFE 5 offsite information platform was held by “New Generation” Humanitarian NGO within the framework of Right to Health project funded by Eurasian Coalition on Male Health (ECOM), from the funds of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

 

LIFE 5 information platform was aimed at raising awareness on the right to health among the representatives of MSM and Trans* communities, enhance legal consciousness, acquaint them with the in-state and international human rights protection mechanisms as well as promote the involvement of the community in the bodies of National Response to HIV.

 

On the first day of the information platform, the expert of the day, NGNGO lawyer Anahit Mkrtchyan  introduced the topic of the Right to Health to the participants: she spoke about the state-guaranteed free medical care and service, also the RA healthcare workers’ low level of legal consciousness and of medical knowledge on LGBT+ related issues, their discriminatory attitude and prevention mechanisms of such manifestations of discrimination were discussed within the framework of the topic. The entire meeting was full of interesting video-screenings and practical activities.

 

The first day of the Information Platform also included a Plenary Session with the participation of ECOM program director Elena German via video-call during which the participants were able to ask the questions they had relating to the project and the activities of ECOM and got exhaustive answers to them. E. German also spoke about the importance of community involvement and participation in the decision-making process.

 

The topic of the second day was Sexuality introduced by expert NGNGO programs assistant Alik Ustyan. The expert presented all the components of sexuality, spoke about types of biological sex, sexual orientation, sexual identity and behavior, gender, types of gender identity and gender roles. Components of transgenderness were discussed, and manifestations of sexual orientation in case of transgenderness were introduced to the participants through special group work. The workshop involved interesting video-screenings and practical activities.

 

At the end of LIFE 5 information platform the participants were awarded with certificates of participation.
