LIFE-31 INFORMATION PLATFORM WAS HELD FOR AWARENESS RAISING AND INTEGRATION OF MIGRANTS, REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS IN ARMENIA

On October 3-4, 2024, LIFE-31 information platform was held, this time with the purpose of capacity building, awareness-raising, communication and integration of young leader migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. 

The information platform was launched by NG NGO President Sergey Gabrielyan’s welcoming speech. He thanked the participants for their interest and presence at the platform, expressing hope that the informational platform will become a benchmark for their future active engagement, public participation, and integration in Armenia. 

The first day of the platform was dedicated to healthcare topics, which began with a presentation on Sexually Transmitted Infections: Transmission Routes, Prevention, and Treatment, delivered by doctor-dermatovenerologist Emil Mirzoyan, Head of the Department of Sexually Transmitted Infections at the National Center for Burns and Dermatology under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.  

The presentation of the topic on STIs was followed by a discussion on HIV/AIDS, Its Transmission Routes, and Prevention Methods, led by epidemiologist Siranush Martoyan from the Epidemiological Surveillance and Consultation Department of the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. 

Next, infectious disease specialist Elena Silka from the outpatient clinic of the NCID presented the topic on Pre-exposure (PrEP) and Post-exposure (PEP) Prophylaxis for HIV. 

The first day of the informational platform was concluded with the topic on Hepatitis B and C: Transmission Routes, Prevention, and Treatment, presented by infectious disease specialist Astghik Davidyan from the outpatient clinic of the NCID

The second day of the platform covered topics related to human rights. 

Legal expert Violeta Zopunyan delivered the topic on the “Right to Health,” next Naira Marutyan, Protection Assistant at the UNHCR office in Armenia, discussed with the participants the rights, obligations, and opportunities for migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in Armenia. 

The informational platform was concluded with questions and answers, exchanges of opinions, and active discussions. Additionally, the platform included informal exercises to encourage communication and engagement among participants. 

At the end of the event, participants were awarded with certificates of participation.
