SAFE AND UNHAMPERED PROVISION OF HIV SERVICES AMID MPOX AND COVID-19. REQUALIFICATION TRAINING FOR OUTREACH WORKERS

On February 22-23, 2023 requalification training was held for HIV prevention programs outreach workers of New Generation Humanitarian NGO (NGNGO) on the topics of Mpox, COVID-19 and HIV prevention outreach work.

 

The goal of the training was to raise the awareness of outreach workers, to build their capacities about COVID-19, Monkeypox (Mpox), ways of transmission and prevention methods, HIV prevention outreach work, safe and unhampered provision of HIV services amid pandemics.

 

The training was launched with the discussion of COVID-19 pandemic, ways of transmission and prevention methods. The topic was presented by Elena Silka, infectious disease doctor of ambulatory care clinic of the National Center for Infectious Diseases under the Ministry of Health of Armenia (NCID).

 

Next, trainer Vardan Arzakanyan, Head of Epidemiological Control and Consultation Department of NCID, introduced to the participants the topic of  Monkeypox (Mpox), ways of transmission and prevention methods.

 

The meeting was concluded with the discussion of the specificities of HIV prevention outreach work which was conducted by NGNGO expert Levon Chilingaryan.

 

 

 

As a result of the training NGNGO outreach workers acquired and renewed their knowledge about Mpox and COVID-19 pandemic, strengthened their skills of safe and unhampered provision of HIV services amid pandemics.

 

 

The training was organized within the framework of the project Awareness Raising and Prevention in Response to the Pandemic Outbreak implemented by New Generation Humanitarian NGO with financial support of Gilead Sciences Inc.
