
Meeting-Discussion with Armenian Healthcare Workers Highlights Inclusive Healthcare and Rights-Based Approaches
On September 18, 2025, a meeting-discussion with Armenian healthcare workers was held in Yerevan within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Capacities of Vulnerable Groups in Armenia through Enhanced Legal Protection, Awareness, and Economic and Social Inclusion”.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the awareness and professional capacities of healthcare workers in Armenia by addressing crucial topics related to human rights, inclusive healthcare, and ethical considerations in working with vulnerable groups.
During the event, human rights experts delivered insightful sessions on key issues:

– The Importance of Inclusive Healthcare: Specificities and Ethical Considerations when Working with LGBTQI+ Individuals – presented by lawyer and Right to Health expert Violeta Zopunyan.
– The Right to Health, and
– The Right to be Free from Stigma and Discrimination – presented by lawyer Shushan Khnkoyan.
The discussions emphasized the fundamental importance of ensuring equal access to healthcare services, eliminating stigma and discrimination, and strengthening ethical practices within Armenia’s healthcare system.
In the welcoming remarks, NGNGO human rights and advocacy coordinator Alina Mirzoyan highlighted the significance of building the professional capacities of healthcare workers:
“Promoting an inclusive and equitable healthcare environment is essential for protecting the rights and dignity of every individual. Through initiatives like this, we aim to foster a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive society in Armenia.”
The meeting also reinforced the importance of continued collaboration between civil society, international partners, and Armenia’s healthcare professionals in advancing human rights and improving the quality of healthcare services for all.
